Welcome to the Wanaka Wastebusters Winter NewsletterMerry Christmas to everyone who has reduced, reused and/or recycled in 2009 - that’s all of you, hopefully! Household recycling collections will be running as normal over the festive season, so don’t forget to get your black crate out nice and early. Extra recycling can be put out in a plastic bin beside your black crate. One of Wastebusters big missions in 2009 was to revamp our mission and vision, and finalise a strategic plan for the next three years. Randolph and the strategic planning team have achieved this, and the next challenge is to turn the plan into a reality. Wanaka Wastebusters rolled out On The Road Recycling in Otago earlier this month. We’re only the second region in New Zealand to make it easy for tourists to recycle. Sophie Ward, Otago organiser and Wastebusters project manager, says tourist recycling is a base-line for our clean, green reputation. Talking of green, salad greens are one of the easiest vegetables to grow, and there’s nothing better than a salad straight from the garden. With a bit of forward planning, you can grow greens all year round in Wanaka. Staff profiles this month are on twins James and Cory, who help us out on the sorting line when school is closed, and Gina, who is in charge of advertising, media and sundry writing jobs for Wastebusters. Coming up in the New Year : events recycling, summer touch, the new Ed-space display and changes at Green Waste.
