Gateway GuardiansThe recycling centre on Ballantyne Rd has a new presence with the installation of two impressive gateway guardians. The structure was designed by Wanaka Wastebusters committee member Gwilym Griffith-Jones and Merle Schluter, and the artwork was done in collaboration by Gwilym and Wanaka Wastebusters yard supervisor Jason Peita. They both consulted with Jeremy Van Riel and Pat Pihama to ensure that the correct design protocol was followed. Builder Brendon Holloway and engineer Warren Bachelor also put in lots of effort on the construction and technical side.
