Wastebusters Survey

The community owns Wanaka Wastebusters – all our profits go back to you. So we want to know what you think of the job we’re doing. Throw it all at us: things you love, things you hate, crazy ideas for the future, ways we could do it better right now. Download our survey form, or fill in a survey at the shop. It’s a great excuse to come down because, holy moley, there have been some changes going on.

ReCirculate - The Lakes Districts new Resource Exchange

Using things again is even better than recycling, which is why we love the new resource exchange that we set up for QLDC. Recirculate is a website which passes things on to a new home. www.recirculate.org.nz

Dr Compost comes to QT

We’re dragging Dr Compost back out of his heap for the Wanaka Home Show on May 17th. He and the Worm Lady are hoping to fit in some raised bed (gardens that is) workshops later in the year. Meantime Dr Compost is running some Sustainable Living workshops in Queenstown with SL coordinator Rachel Brown.

Tours

Wanaka Primary envirogroup went on a Wastebusters tour in April. Teacher Claire Haskins was inspired to go home and recycle her yoghurt pottles (yes, we take all plastics 1 through 7 now), and the kids loved seeing the machinery and how it all works. If your organisation would like a tour, email Simon or call him on 443 8606 ext 3.Funded by Queenstown Lakes Districts Council

Frosty veg

Time to tuck up your garden for winter. Add compost or manure to raised beds, and cover them to encourage worms and help the organic matter decompose. Find out more about frosty veg
