Newsletter - Christmas 2007

Christmas wishes to all Wanaka Wastebusters members and supporters. Hope you're managing to hold onto some Christmas spirit and peace in the midst of all the madness.

If you know friends or family who would enjoy our newsletter, please forward this email to them. They can sign-up for free.

Congratulations to the three young Hawea film-makers who made it into the final round of the Outlook for Someday sustainability film competition. Hugo, Hank and Noel were the youngest winners and took home one of 20 laptops. The ultimate winner will be chosen by public vote.

You can view their animated penguin movie "Melted ice, flooded homes, the future" and vote online at the Outlook for Someday website.

Thanks to Chris Schmeltz, a local film-maker, who gave lots of support to the young film-makers as part of the Wanaka Wastebusters education for sustainability project. Chris has now taken his skills to Berlin, and we wish him all the best there.

As a Christmas present for our community, Wanaka Wastebusters is donating a copy of the WA$TED! DVD and book to the Wanaka library. TV3's WA$TED programme takes "eco-horror" households and makes them greener. Even for people who are already into recycling, it's got lots of new ideas.
