![]() Winter 07 NewsletterSo I’m a member of Wastebusters. What does that mean?Wanaka Wastebusters is a Community Enterprise, a not-for-profit business set up to meet a need that was not being catered for by the commercial sector. We wanted to use the resources we saw being thrown out to increase the quality of life for people in our community and to reduce harm to our environment.Wastebusters operates under an incorporated society structure. Anyone can become a member for a $1 annual fee. At the AGM, the members elect a group of people to act as the community’s representatives each year. This Executive works with the Manager (Sue Coutts) to ensure the strategic plan reflects the community’s goals. Becoming a member gives you the chance to contribute to and support the development of Wastebusters and to make sure that our activities bring long term benefits. You can vote for the executive, and feed your thoughts back to them on how Wastebusters is doing. From now on, you will also get our quarterly newsletter. Wastebusters is a not-for-profit organisation so earnings are not paid out to shareholders. Any surplus generated through our activities is returned to the community in the form of additional services – our current focus is Education for Sustainability. To renew your membership for 2007/2008 or become a member please download our application form and post to Wastebusters, PO Box 16, Wanaka or bring to Wastebusters on the Corner of Ballantyne and Riverbank Roads.
