How do I recycle in Wanaka?You will need a black QLDC recycling crate, if you do not have one then please ring the Wanaka QLDC office on 443 0024. They will take your information and pass on your request to us, you will then be able to come down to Wanaka Wastebusters on the corner of Riverbank and Ballantyne Roads to collect it.I've got my crate, what goes in it?![]() Unfortunately we cannot accept polystyrene or plastic wrap in your kerbside recycling crate, even if it has a recycling triangle on it. If you have polystyrene or plastic wrap that has not been used for food storage then please bring it down to our site at the corner of Riverbank and Ballantyne Roads where you can drop it off for us to recycle. Cans: You can place aluminium beverage cans and steel food cans into your crate. Please wash and squash them before placing in your crate. Glass: Please place all washed glass bottles and jars, with their lids removed, carefully into your crate. Please do not place broken glass or window panes into your crate.
My Crate is Ready, Now What?Please place your crate 1m from the kerb by 8am on the morning of your collection day. The collections days are listed below along with a map of Wanaka township and the associated collection days.Monday:
Sorry, we cannot take......Expanded polystyrene, plastic bags of any description, cling film or shrink wrap, toys, bubble wrap, car parts, appliance or computer parts & electronics. Please feel free to come down to our site on the corner of Riverbank and Ballantyne Roads to drop some of these items (everything except meat trays and plastic bags) and your reusable items off either for recycling or resale.Please do not put loose paper or cardboard in the black crate, this includes egg boxes. Excess material - Plastics, cans & glass which doesn’t fit in your crate along with bulk cardboard & paper can be dropped off at Wastebusters, corner of Riverbank and Ballantyne Roads. Pleae don’t leave excess glass in cardboard boxes, when the box gets wet it breaks, then the bottles smash on the floor. Thank You Wanaka.
