Gardening and composting workshops for Autumn 2015

Wanaka’s gardening and composting guru Dr Compost (aka Ben Elms) gives advice and runs workshops on gardening and composting. The Dr Compost home-composting project is funded by QLDC to reduce food and garden waste going to landfill, where decomposition can release methane.

Queenstown Workshops

Get Growing:  Harvest vegetables through the winter with the best crops, cloches, when to plant. Tap in to 30 years local experience in building raised beds, seed sowing and growing abundant vegetables. Ben shares the stage with master gardener Frankie Deans.

Tuesday 24th Feb. 6-8pm, Shotover Garden Centre, 150 Frankton Ladies-Mile Highway (SH6)

Get Composting: There’s a composting system to suit everyone, and Dr Compost will help you find the right one. Feed your soil and keep organic waste out of the landfill where it can release methane, a harmful climate change gas. No smell, no fuss composting solutions – bokashi, worms, traditional composting

Events

Dr Compost will be at the Queenstown Home Show (Feb 27th -Mar 1st) and the Wanaka A&P Show (Mar 14th-15th) to give composting and gardening advice.

You can also get free personal gardening and composting advice from Dr Compost by emailing him drcompost@wanakawastebusters.co.nz

We can remind you when workshops are coming up, just Like Wanaka Wastebusters on Facebook.

We get amazing feedback from everyone who attends Ben’s workshops, both novices and experts. The bonus is that the workshops are free, thanks to funding from Queenstown Lakes District Council to reduce organic waste in the landfill.
