Trolley dollies

Join the trolley dollies

Full black crates can be heavy, and some residents have told us that it can be a struggle to put their recycling out. Our general manager Sue Coutts had a chat with colleagues in the Community Recycling Network, and found out that the guys in Tauranga had come up with a prototype trolley to slip under a black crate.

Working with Metalworks Wanaka and some enthusiastic volunteers, we refined the prototype to get the ultimate recycling trolley. Made locally by Metalworks Wanaka, the trolleys are sturdy with a long handle and fat wheels for off-road recycling. Simply slip the trolley under the crate and pull. No more lifting or straining.

Making life easy - the crate trolleyThe response has been overwhelming. Realising that there was a big need in the community, we gave away all 40 trolleys from the first production run and some from the second run.

Since then Metalworks has made a second batch of trolleys which we are selling at cost for $62 each. A great present for the person who has everything, or go in with your neighbours. Call Ivy on 443-8606 ext 9 if you are interested in buying a trolley, or email her ivy@wanakawastebusters.co.nz.

Many thanks to the Ray and Elsie Armstrong Trust and the Lions Wanaka for their financial contributions to the trolley project, and to Community Networks for compiling a list of worthy recipients.
